The start of a new year is a great time for fitness studios to engage with new members. Running special intro offers are a fantastic way to broaden your reach and encourage newcomers to give your studio a try.

We welcomed Justine Vandenbrink and Heather Miller from StudioBoost on a recent webinar to discuss intro offers strategies that convert into loyal members. These experts shared how to build loyalty through engaging touchpoints, and tips for the best intro offer packages. Here are four key takeaways from the webinar:

Not All Intro Offers Convert Equally!

There are a few types of intro offer packages a studio can run, from offering a free class to a discounted class pack or an abbreviated membership. Offering a free trial class is a popular option, but studio owners are surprised to hear that it’s actually the least powerful conversion tool of all the intro offer options. Why? Exposure!

With a single class, prospects are only coming into your studio once. They’re not going to get much of an idea of what the studio or the community is like, which is often a major differentiator and selling point in boutique fitness. Discounted class packs or limited memberships extend the client’s chance to experience the studio, meet people in your community, and try a few different classes. An extended package also enables boutique studio owners to better utilize their automations as a conversion tool – if they’re visiting more than once, there are a few opportunities for communication and follow up.

    Provide a Simple Registration Process

Buying behaviors today demand that making a purchase is quick and easy. Justine and Heather shared a few critical tips to create a best-in-class, frictionless purchasing experience for your intro offers. It’s important to make the intro offer registration mobile-friendly and straightforward. But a the same time, you need to include all the details so buyers are clear on what they’re signing up for. Include clear explanation of the expiration, limitations, or any other details so it’s crystal clear what to expect from the intro offer experience.

Highlight The Unique Benefits of Your Boutique Fitness Community

Intro offer communications are some of the first experiences a prospect has with your brand. Be sure to take every opportunity you can to convey your unique brand message and the benefits of joining your fitness community. Share your story, values and the benefits, and what you offer as a studio holistically. Today’s consumers are often well-educated in health and fitness  and largely interested in the overall health benefits. Use the first few touchpoints to share the positive impact that joining your boutique fitness community can have on both their physical and mental health.

Consider Three Key Touchpoints to Convert First-Timers

Studio Boost shared some critical touchpoints that can go a long way in converting intro-offer clients to buying a membership or a class-pack. Three notable points of outreach include a detailed welcome email, a 24-hour follow up text, and an email asking for feedback. The team covered a few ways to collect the feedback, from a simple form to a ‘rate the instructor’ request. This is a great way to extract some value from intro offer participants even if they don’t end up converting. Their feedback can be really valuable!
